Job description

Are you passionate about unravelling complex data puzzles and transforming raw information into actionable insights? We are looking for a Quantitative Researcher to join our team!

This is an exciting opportunity for an analytical and culturally-savvy individual, driven by the desire to make an impact through innovative research and analysis. Your experience in quantitative research and genuine interest in understanding people's behaviours will be pivotal in revealing valuable insights and emerging trends. With a brilliant team around you, your efforts will be instrumental in helping Canvas8 inspire the world's best brands, agencies and organisations such as Adidas, Google, Lego, and Ogilvy.

About us

We are Canvas8, a strategic insights practice operating out of London, NY, LA, & Singapore. We help our clients understand people so they can make better business decisions.

Our work is about investigating the hidden insights in everyday life - from the psychology of boredom to teenage make-up rituals to why Barbiecore is a Gen Y thing - and making them meaningful for brands. Our team is a blend of different disciplines and skills - from psychology to journalism, and anthropology to behavioural economics. What unites them is a desire to understand people and a passion for delivering outstanding work.

About the role

This role is for a remarkable analyst with 2 years of experience in quantitative research. You will be responsible for delivering innovative research and analysis across consultancy projects and through the Canvas8 Library.

We're looking for a strategic thinker and researcher, but we're not prescriptive about what that means. Our team doesn't fit in a box, and comes from a range of backgrounds - what unites them is a desire to understand people.

As part of the behavioural analyst team, you'll be researching cultural, social and technological shifts as well as changes in the industry. The research is incredibly varied. One day you might be exploring the psychology of doom scrolling, the next you might be analysing datasets to investigate why teenagers play sport. You'll need to be ambitious, driven, personable and willing to get stuck in - pouring over data, identifying significant patterns, analysing shifts in society, and writing under tight deadlines.

The day-to-day

  • Telling stories through data
  • Working across editorial and consultancy projects
  • Researching consumer behaviour, trends and shifts
  • Working with data trackers and social listening tools
  • Analysing cultural shifts to identify transformative insights
  • Writing engaging reports and innovative case studies
  • Presenting concise analysis, insights, trends and ideas in inspiring formats

About you

We are looking for someone who is experienced in the world of consumer trends, cultural analysis, strategy and research. Your expertise and passion will drive our mission to empower businesses through insightful data analysis and storytelling. You possess a genuine interest in trends, culture, and the art of pushing the boundaries of traditional research. Your voracious reading habits keep you informed about the latest developments in consumer behaviour and beyond.

Articulate and confident, you are an experienced quantitative researcher, with a good head for numbers. You'll be competent using software such as Excel and SPSS, and ideally, have an understanding of statistical methods. Some experience with qualitative research is preferable - however, at least an interest in mixed methodology is a must.

As a great communicator, on paper and in person, you'll be able to unlock powerful insights across different sources, be genuinely interested in the world around you, and capable of telling inspiring stories.

Super organised, you are comfortable working on quantitative research phases from start to finish, communicating proactively with others, and getting hands-on with research and fieldwork. Your eagerness to learn and develop new skills is innate, making you a valuable asset to the team's growth and success.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in quantitative research
  • Experience with tools such as Excel and SPSS
  • Excellent written skills, and an ability to distil complexity into plain English
  • Culturally aware (experience of different cultures very desirable)
  • Commercially astute, and able to pick out the nuances of business challenges
  • A lateral thinker with an eye for spotting patterns in data and cultural shifts across multiple industries
  • Ability to generate actionable insights from research
  • Well-organised and proactive
  • Curious, collaborative and tenacious
  • Adept at resolving challenges and being quick at finding smart solutions

Benefits

  • Competitive salary dependent on experience
  • Hybrid working with flexible start times
  • 29 days paid holiday (including bank hols)
  • Interest-free 'Life Unlock Loan' for lump sum payments (rental deposits, sponsorship etc)
  • A personalised career development plan
  • Access to physical and mental well-being support including two 'Mental Wealth' days
  • Pension, life insurance, cashback private health plan and cycle scheme
  • Summer Fridays, seasonal benefits, and lots of staff socials
  • A friendly and welcoming team (pooches included)
