Job description

WHO ARE WE:

We're Mediahub, the industry's best-kept secret. This year we got our first Campaign School Report, coming in at number one for building the most ethnically diverse team in the industry. COMvergence rank us as the UK's fastest-growing media agency for the second year running.

We bring a challenger mindset to everything we do. Brands choose to work with us to disrupt category norms.

We offer the best of both worlds. A start-up culture backed by Mediabrands.

Just some of the brands we work with - New Balance, Pinterest, Celebrity Cruises.

Role Overview:

As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in setting up, maintaining, and optimising data pipelines, particularly using Adverity and AWS technologies. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and other engineering teams to ensure data integrity, troubleshoot issues, and scale our infrastructure. This role is perfect for someone with a strong technical background in Python, SQL, and cloud technologies, coupled with a problem-solving mindset and a passion for continuous learning and improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pipeline Setup: Configure client data pipelines using Adverity, with S3 as the destination, leveraging templates within our existing Adverity account. Ensure efficient and reliable data flow for key clients such as Farfetch, Esprit, and Pinterest.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough QA checks on data imported from Excel media plan templates, ensuring accuracy and consistency within SQL databases.
  • Bug Fixing: Handle ad hoc bug fixing, including adding missing pipelines in Adverity, raising detailed bug reports, and diagnosing data flow issues to maintain system integrity.
  • Client Onboarding: Facilitate the onboarding of new clients onto existing pipelines using Python, ensuring a smooth integration process and adherence to best practices.
  • Infrastructure Optimisation: Work on optimising and managing data infrastructure, focusing on ELT (Extract, Load, Transform) deployments, version control using GIT, and enhancing AWS cloud environments.
  • Tool Development: Assist in scaling and improving current tools, developing new pipelines, and collaborating with data scientists to build and refine models.
  • Project Management: Take ownership of small to medium-sized projects, managing timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Collaboration: Engage in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning within the team. Participate actively in team discussions, offering insights and suggestions to improve processes.

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in Python and SQL, with experience in version control using GIT and cloud technologies, particularly AWS.
  • Pipeline Engineering: Strong experience in ELT deployment and engineering pipeline work, with a focus on optimising and scaling infrastructure.
  • Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose issues, troubleshoot effectively, and implement solutions quickly.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Communication: Capable of taking briefs and responding to client queries with clarity and professionalism, though the role is not predominantly client-facing.
  • Team Collaboration: A strong team player who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, sharing knowledge, and learning from others.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

We are looking for a technically skilled and motivated Data Engineer who is eager to contribute to the growth and optimisation of our data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of driving improvements in both existing and new data pipelines. If you are passionate about data engineering and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.
